The class will begin by focusing on unison singing and move towards introducing harmony based on level and interest of participants. Black History Month Vocal Workshop-Celebration of Spirituals and West Indian Song
Ages 16+. Songs to be covered include field songs, work songs and popular and lesser known vocal gems from the West Indies. You will learn these songs through the aural-oral method of song acquisition, based on West African musical practices. Techniques such as call and response and use of body percussion will be covered.
