Our group music classes for adults offer many benefits, including an opportunity to make new friends, reduced stress, and improved fine motor skills. You’ll find a sense of joy and community in our group music classes. And each class offers an opportunity for personal growth and fulfillment. We keep our class sizes small, allowing you to interact with your instructor, and benefit from the supportive, close-knit group environment.
Our music school is centrally located in downtown Winnipeg, with plenty of public parking nearby, and a rapid transit bus stop across the street. Our music classes take place on the University of Winnipeg campus, in Bryce Hall–directly east of Wesley Hall (the “castle” building). Please click here for accessibility information. Please use the buzzer to access the building on weekends and after 6 pm on weekdays.
Each of our highly-qualified music instructors have a degree in music or the equivalent in performance experience. A majority hold Bachelor degrees, many possess Masters degrees and some have earned Doctorate degrees. Our instructors consider themselves musician/teachers — professional musicians who teach.
Our group music classes for adult students include:
Musical Theatre for Adults (ages 16+) This group class is designed for all of us who have ever wanted to dance and sing our way out of the theatre after watching a musical! You’ll learn the basics of musical theatre (acting, singing and choreography) in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment. This class is open to all skill levels-no experience is required! Classes include fun warm-ups, drama games, acting and movement, and basic dance moves. Many of our adult students return year after year, which builds a sense of community, and an opportunity to continue building the performance skills you’ve learned.
Vocal Workshops (ages 16+) These workshops provide a unique vocal experience for adult students. Workshops consist of three weeks of learning songs, with week four consisting of a rehearsal and song sharing class. These group classes are often centred around learnings connected to Black History Month.
Music Appreciation (ages 18+) Are you interested in music history? Then these group classes will be the perfect fit for you! You’ll learn about different musical genres throughout history, and meet new friends who are interested in deepening their musical knowledge in a group setting. These classes are entertaining and fun!
