Winterruption

We’re now accepting submissions for our Winterruption Festival!

We’re currently accepting artist updates and submissions for our 2027 Winterruption Festival in Churchill, Manitoba, which is taking place from February 5-7, 2027. Artists from Indigenous and all underserved populations are encouraged to self-identify and submit an application to be considered for a (paid) performance contract for this Winter Festival!

Location: Churchill, Manitoba (travel and accommodation costs are included in contract)

Dates:  Festival activities are from February 5-7, 2027. Travel dates are to be confirmed, but are assumed to be February 4 and 8, 2027.

Notes: Indigenous Artists are strongly encouraged to apply and help bring their cultural influence and perspective to the community. To increase positive impact in the community, we hope artists are open to engaging musically with the community in an outreach capacity during non contracted performance times. Activities such as playing with the house band, participating in or attending discussion panels, songwriting circles or community workshops are strongly encouraged and supported. As travel can be weather dependent, planning for flexibility in travel schedules is strongly encouraged. Submitting detailed tech requirements and/or meeting ahead of time with our sound and production team to ensure weight restrictions for travel are respected is required.

There may be accessibility issues due to weather and infrastructure limitations. Please let us know if you need accommodations and we will do everything possible to support you.

To apply, please click here to fill out our online form by our November 15, 2026 deadline.

If you require further information or have questions about the submission procedure, please email programdirector@mcma.ca.
