Claire Guan

Claire Guan is an experienced piano instructor and collaborative pianist currently pursuing a Master of Collaborative Piano at the University of Manitoba. She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from China.

With over ten years of teaching experience, Claire has worked with students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to advanced pre-professional musicians. Her former students in China have been admitted to leading music conservatories around the world as well as top universities across China. She has successfully prepared students for graded examinations, competitions, and university entrance auditions while also nurturing a deep appreciation for artistry and musical understanding.

Claire believes strongly in individualized instruction. Her one-on-one lessons emphasize open communication, mutual trust, and thoughtful guidance tailored to each student’s personality, goals, and learning style. Known for her warm and approachable teaching manner, she strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel confident to grow. Her goal is not only to develop technical proficiency, but also to inspire a genuine love of music and a lifelong curiosity to explore its beauty and joy.

In addition to her teaching, Claire is an active collaborative pianist. She has worked extensively with vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists in recitals, competitions, juries, and graduation concerts. She previously served as a vocal art coach and accompanist for ten years and participated in national concert tours and choral competitions. Her collaborative experience informs her teaching, helping students develop strong listening skills, musical sensitivity, and ensemble awareness.
