Shayla Davidson
VOICE
Shayla’s musical journey began at an early age. Kindermusik is where it all began! Her first instrument was the piano, and it wasn’t until high school that she found her love of singing. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with her Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2022. Shayla is a member of The Winnipeg Singers (alto) and has performed with Manitoba Opera as a Chorus member. She is looking forward to future musical endeavors, and is excited to continue her musical journey teaching students at MCMA!
What is your education and experience?
I have my Bachelor of Music specializing in Music Education from the University of Manitoba.
Tell us about one of your fondest musical memories
I would have to say that my fondest musical memory is the first rehearsal I had with the Winnipeg Singers!
What made you decide to study music?
For as long as I can remember, music has always been apart of my life in some shape or form. I came to a point where I realized just how much music meant to me. This inspired me to want to learn more about music, and share my passion with others.
How are your lessons unique?
I want lessons to be fun for students! Feedback is extremely important, as I want to ensure that students are enjoying their learning experience. Learning is an ongoing process, which means that I am continuously learning as well. I am always willing to adapt and change my teaching to suit the needs of each student.
What’s your favourite part about teaching?
My favourite part of teaching is seeing the look of joy on students faces as they engage with music. Being apart of an individual’s musical journey is so special!
What would you say to someone who is interested in studying music?
I would say YES! DO IT! Everyone is capable of being a musician. I have no doubt that it will bring immense joy into your life 😊
