Edvanny Silva Burns

Born in João Pessoa, Brazil, Edvanny egan her cello studies in 1999 with Francieudo Torres. From 2009 to 2012, Miss Silva was a member of YOA – Orchestra of the Americas. On tour with YOA, she shared the stage with Carlos Miguel Prieto, Gabriela Montero, Matt Haimovitz, Joshua Bell, Philippe Quint, Dante Anzolini, and others. In 2011, Edvanny had the opportunity to perform at the Days & Nights Festival with Philip Glass.
In 2009, Edvany relocated to a chillier climate of Winnipeg to continue her cello studies with the distinguished Dr. Minna Rose Chung at University of Manitoba – Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music, graduating in 2014. Since 2011, Edvanny started teaching cello in a social project called Musica na Estrada in Brazil during the summer. She enjoys reading and watching soccer in her free time.

Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, University of Manitoba.
What makes your lessons different from the rest?
I try my best to make students enjoy playing the cello while they still learn the instrument properly.
What do you love about teaching?
It’s very rewarding to see the students develop.

Do it, it’s never too late to start!
