SUMMARY:Tune-In Music Program
DESCRIPTION:The Tune-In Music Program\, presented in partnership between Music Equals and the West End Cultural Centre\, offers free music instruction on the guitar\, bass\, drums\, voice\, and songwriting for youth ages 8-18. \nProfessional musicians provide two hours of instruction and mentorship once a week on Tuesdays\, from 4-6 pm at the West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Avenue\, Winnipeg). Intro to Piano is a four week introductory group class focusing on some piano FUNdamentals in a supportive group environment. Geared for children aged 7-9\, they will get to spend time playing with others\, getting introduced to note reading\, and making music in a small group. This class is intended to explore musical and instrumental options in a little more depth to support later individual study. \nThese introductory classes are designed to be a stepping stone towards private music lessons. We are offering graduates of this class a $50 discount for individual instruction. Intro to Piano students must register for private lessons within one year of graduation from this class in order to take advantage of this special offer. \nAccessibility: Our ensemble room (where this group class is held) is accessible by a ramp outside Bryce Hall. Once you enter the building\, you’ll find a gender neutral\, accessible washroom available to you. This is next to a push plate activated door leading to our ensemble room. Local violinist Clair Tang will use creative ways to introduce the violin to little hands! This four week introduction program will cover the basics of posture\, bow holds\, tone production\, notation and getting those fingers down on the string for their first notes. The goal is to discover aptitude\, interest\, fun music making and community.
