In this beginner course\, students will learn the basics of scratching\, beat matching songs\, stage presence\, the history of DJing\, and more. No experience or equipment is required\, just a passion for music! \nThis hands-on program is intended for adults whose genders are under-represented in the DJ world\, be it cis or trans women\, 2-Spirit or non-binary folks\, and so on. The course welcomes anyone who self-identifies as part of this wide spectrum of gender expression.

If the class is full\, click on the purple “notify me” button to get notified if a spot becomes available. \nThe MCMA is so excited to offer an introductory experience of Indigenous Dance! Learn the basics and teachings of some familiar Indigenous Dances. This four week program is for EVERYONE\, ages six & up. Our gifted instructor\, Meg Olmstead\, will not only show you the steps\, but create space for understanding and teaching of why those steps exist. Children and adults are welcome to register and participate equally as this is intended as a community building program! \nThese introductory classes are designed to be a stepping stone towards private music lessons. We are offering graduates of this class a $50 discount for individual instruction. Intro to Indigenous Dance students must register for private lessons within one year of graduation from this class in order to take advantage of this special offer. \nAccessibility: The Asper Centre for Theatre and Film (where this group class is held) is accessible via a ramp with a railing outside the building with a push-plate activated door at the top. There is an accessible women’s washroom with a push-plate activated door on the main floor\, and an accessible men’s washroom with a push-plate activated door on the basement floor. Intro to Piano is a four week introductory group class focusing on some piano FUNdamentals in a supportive group environment. Geared for children aged 7-9\, they will get to spend time playing with others\, getting introduced to note reading\, and making music in a small group. This class is intended to explore musical and instrumental options in a little more depth to support later individual study. \nThese introductory classes are designed to be a stepping stone towards private music lessons. We are offering graduates of this class a $50 discount for individual instruction. Intro to Piano students must register for private lessons within one year of graduation from this class in order to take advantage of this special offer. \nAccessibility: Our ensemble room (where this group class is held) is accessible by a ramp outside Bryce Hall. Local violinist Clair Tang will use creative ways to introduce the violin to little hands! This four week introduction program will cover the basics of posture\, bow holds\, tone production\, notation and getting those fingers down on the string for their first notes. The goal is to discover aptitude\, interest\, fun music making and community.
