Do you sing in a choir? Or faithfully attend live choral music events? If you’re missing that experience, I hope you’ll join in for an all-new celebration of choral music with MCMA.
If you were able to join us for our winter Celebration of Choral Music, you’ll know we barely scratched the surface of the rich tradition of choral music.
In this new installation, we’ll explore masterpieces from the Renaissance by Palestrina, great romantic works by Mendelssohn and contemporary favourites by Morten Lauridsen.
As these two classes straddle the Easter holiday, each class will feature some appropriate selections, such as Bach’s heart-rending St. Matthew Passion, Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’ A German Requiem, plus festive Easter music including a choral portion of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony and the joyful “Easter” from Five Mystical Songs by Vaughan Williams.
Courses take place on Zoom and will feature mainly online concert recordings.
