25 May Percussion Day – Professional Development for Band Teachers and Students
TEACHING PERCUSSION
Session for Band Teachers
SATURDAY | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | November 5th
COST: $50 | INSTRUCTOR: Caroline Bucher
Everything you want to know about teaching percussion! Join Caroline Bucher in a practical discussion about percussion section management. Refresh your percussion technique on the main instrument groups (Battery, Mallets, Timpani, Auxiliary), while learning activities, practice drills, and other tips and tricks to engage and support your percussion section. We will also cover section organization: from literal organization and space-saving ideas, to what to look for when recruiting candidates who will become successful, to audition or not, managing skill level discrepancies across instrument groups, and how to teach percussion technique in a band class setting.
Teachers attending this workshop are welcome to attend the afternoon workshop for students at no charge.
NOTE: The MCMA is a certified post-secondary education institution and can provide tuition receipts for tax or PD purposes.
