Biography

Ryszard Tyborowski, originally from Poland, now lives and works in Winnipeg. He has performed on classical guitar on numerous occasions in both Canada and Europe. In recognition of his talent he has received numerous grants and scholarships. He teaches classical guitar at the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba. Ryszard released five 5 CD’s with classical guitar. His first CD, Romantico, was released by GFI in 1996, shortly after he moved to Winnipeg. His second CD, Hommenage a Chopin released by GFI in 1999, included a world premier recording of Polish composer Stanislaw Mronski’s suite in homage to Chopin. Pearls and Yarn, released by Summit Records in 2010, ( 5 stars from Winnipeg Free Press) , featured the chamber music of the Serbian clarinettist and composer Boki Milosovic. Ryszard’s fourth CD Sefarad, (two nominations from the Juno Awards and Western Music Awards) released by Marquis Records in 2008, contains compositions by Winnipeg’s composer Sid Rabinovitch. Ryszard’s latest effort is Memories by the Synergy Duo of him and the Balkan classical/ jazz bassist Nenad Zdjelar. Performing mostly original compositions based on Balkan and Slavic music, individually and in fusion.
