BLOWIN’ THE BLUES: CONTINUING HARMONICA

Always wanted to rock that harmonica you’ve got laying around?  We’ve got the course for you!

The sweet sound of a harmonica instantly tells a story in the most exciting and honest way.  Our Continuing Harmonica class will build on basic harmonica skills — before you know it, you’ll be singing the blues or rocking a jig.  Taught by Dirty Catfish Brass Band member Todd Martin.

Passion-20

Core components to be covered:

  • Producing single notes clearly
  • Note bending technique
  • Both rhythmic and melodic playing
  • Proper breathing technique
  • Improvisation
  • Both solo and accompaniment playing

Don’t own a harmonica yet? Make sure you pick one up at Long & McQuade or St. John’s Music before the first class! To get the best blues sound out of a new instrument, Todd recommends Hohner, Suzuki, Lee Oskar or Seydel brand harmonicas in the key of C Major.
