GREAT VIOLINISTS, GREAT CONCERTOS

Fifteen superlative violinists perform the great concertos, every piece is complete, and they’re all on video!

Join us at a musical feast for everyone who loves the violin.

This six week course hosted by Don Anderson gives you a whole new level of insight into the great violinists of yesterday and today as you watch these musical geniuses perform as well as hear them.

The stellar roster includes artists from earlier generations such as Jascha Heifetz, Itzhak Perlman, David Oistrakh, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein and Isaac Stern, and some of the brightest stars of the current generation, including Joshua Bell, Fabio Biondi, James Ehnes, Julia Fischer, Hilary Hahn, Janine Jansen, Gil Shaham, Maxim Vengerov.and Anne-Mutter Mutter.

The course also includes the history and construction of the violin, a spellbinding masterclass with Maxim Vengerov, master

film documentarian Tony Palmer’s Ivry Gitlis and the Great Tradition (a vibrant portrait of a great violinist who is also a truly wonderful human being) and a hilarious visit with the most famous amateur violinist of all time.

Music selections include works by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bruch, Brahms, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Sibelius, Shostakovich and Barber.
