Edvanny Klébia Silva, born in João Pessoa, Brazil, began her cello studies in 1999 with Francieudo Torres. From 2009 to 2012, Miss Silva was a member of YOA – Orchestra of the Americas. On tour with YOA, she shared the stage with Carlos Miguel Prieto, Gabriela Montero, Matt Haimovitz, Joshua Bell, Philippe Quint, Dante Anzolini, and others. In 2011, Edvany had the opportunity to perform at the Days & Nights Festival with Philip Glass.
Her awards and recognitions include: grand prize winner of 10th National Competition for Strings Paulo Bosisio (Class C) and 11th National Competition for Strings Paulo Bosisio (Class B) and 3rd prize (with Camerata Brasílica) at National Youth Chambers in Brazil, first prize winner of the 2011 Concerto Competition at University of Manitoba – Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music. In 2009, Edvany relocated to a chillier climate of Winnipeg (Canada) to continue her cello studies with the distinguished Dr. Minna Rose Chung at University of Manitoba – Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music, graduating in 2014. Since 2011, Edvanny started teaching cello in a social project called Musica na Estrada in Brazil during the summer. She enjoys reading and watching soccer in her free time.
