Domanie Billinghurst-Schadek – Music Equals

Specializes In:

Violin, Voice, Music Outreach

Domanie began playing violin at age 8, studying first with Caroline Bias and later Carlisle Wilson. She had the privilege of playing in the Winnipeg Youth Orchestra for many years and continues to perform as a freelance musician to this day.

As a teenager she began performing in musical and dinner theatre and eventually went to study classical voice with Valdine Anderson.  As many young singers do, she competed in the Winnipeg Music Festival, culminating her participation with a trip to the Rose Bowl in 2013.  She has sang with the Manitoba Opera Chorus and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra chorus.

As a Suzuki trained teacher, she enjoys a full studio of tiny violinists, fabulous singers, and adorable preschoolers.  Teaching is her true passion, and she is so proud to coach all these children in their musical journeys.  Domanie’s experience teaching in the Music Equals program has been “one of the most rewarding teaching experiences in my life” and “bringing the joy of music to those who have few opportunities for formal music education is a privilege for me as a teacher and a musician.”
