This scholarship recognizes individuals on their commitment and contributions to the music community as a whole.
Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities. These are used in the therapeutic relationship to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self expression, communication, and personal development.”
When we think of a taking a music class we may not have career goals in mind, but the truth is that many employers and universities seek the skills developed through artistic education. You are never too young or too old to develop the positive skills associated with studying music.
We can feel the warm weather is right around the corner which means that Winnipegers are ready to break out of their cozy houses to try something new and be creative. This is why we are offering several spring programs to help reinstate that inspiration to help the music flow.
The MCMA will be offering several music courses this winter as it partners with the Windsor Community Center. Music helps us to develop new skills and improves our creativity, mood, and perspectives. Come join us to spice up your winter!
The MCMA Outreach Programs are at the heart of the Conservatory’s dedication to providing musical opportunities for youth around the city of Winnipeg who otherwise may not have access to music classes.
